What can Anthony Kingsley Travel do for you?
After running an English Language school for international students in London for 10 years, my transition to travel agent seemed a logical one. I had become so interested in the four corners of the globe from which my students came that I wanted to visit their home countries myself.
I learned so much about the travel business from my first venture, a franchise with Not Just Travel, made exceptional contacts and went on amazing journeys around the world, helping to inspire my clients to ask a little bit more for their own travels.
And so now, it is onto the next chapter, with a more independent agency, Anthony Kingsley Travel, under the aegis of Protected Trust Services
This gives me more independence to book with whom I want, particularly in some of the more niche areas that I like to offer to clients, such as the Philippines, tea and tiger tours in India, Wellness in places such as Abano Terme, and wine tasting in Moldova.
At the same time, my clients’ money is fully protected in an independent trust fund until the suppliers are paid. Each booking includes insurance against supplier failure. I can’t prevent any of the problems that are caused by airport delays, adverse weather conditions and the like, but I am well positioned to deal quickly and effectively with whatever happens, usually via contacts on the ground wherever the problem arises.
I can still offer any of the traditional package holidays provided by TUI, Jet 2 and Easy Jet. I can still book Sandals and Beachcomber and cruise holidays.
But my energies will be focused on providing you with the sort of bespoke holiday and travel that I enjoy myself: Island hopping in the Philippines, taking a tour from Chennai to Cochin and drinking tea in Darjeeling, exploring the wines of Moldova, Italy, France and Spain.
I continue to educate myself on what sustainable tourism really means, both to the planet, but also to us as travellers. Travelling more sustainably, appreciating the beauty around us, enjoying the cultures and company of different people provides a travel experience that will mean so much more to you than simply sitting around a pool all day.
I am a member of the Wellness Tourism Association which helps me to provide you with the best advice on wellness destinations and wellness tourism. As I have got older, the importance of maintaining physical and mental health becomes more apparent. Perhaps it is something to which I should have paid more attention when I was younger and fitter… not just for longevity but also because wellness is enjoyable!
It’s why I say that Anthony Kingsley Travel is travel for the incurably curious

France
A holiday in France may be relatively easy to book yourself, but there are many situations where booking with a travel agent will open up many more opportunities for you.
France is of course a country famed for its food and wine. Lyon is perhaps its culinary capital, home of chef Bocuse. It has a great depth of history, particularly in Normandy, culture, art, nature and wellness. The South of France has always been popular with British visitors, especially the Cote d’Azur.

Spain
Spain is one of the most popular destinations for British travellers, and not just for its beaches. Its wine is as good as anywhere else in the world, and let’s not forget sherry, wonderful food, and so much to do in its various regions.
And then there are its islands, each so very different.
Favourite regions for me include the Basque Country, La Rioja and the Navarra region.

Portugal
Historically, Portugal is England’s oldest allies, which is why perhaps we hold Portugal so dear. Catherine of Braganza brought tea to England on her marriage to Charles II. Where would we be without a glass of port after dinner?
Lisbon and Porto are excellent choices for city breaks, the Algarve popular for golf and for beach holidays.
But of course there is so much more to explore and to enjoy.
